Poco's Abcess
Not often do we get to see the affects of an abscess, which undermines the entire sole, in such a manner as the photos on this page. The entire sole was undermined and came off in one complete piece. Is it any wonder why some horses have to lay down, stay off their feet, their pulse rates increase, body chemical levels vary from normal and the horse seems as though they are ready to push up daisies? An abscess, such as this one, can cause much pain, however, they have a specific purpose, that being that of ‘house cleaning’. As bad as this may seem to some, this was a ‘good’ abscess with a desirable end result.
